Why Support Renewable Energy and offset Greenhouse Gas Emissions?

Part of NewSprout’s environmental impact considerations were to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and support renewable energy by using GreenPower. We have also offset our greenhouse gas emissions by supporting Carbon Neutral.

 

 

We’ve used a few strategies over the years, however mostly we don’t have the big corporate bloat, wastage and general disregard for our environment. We’re based in a small town, use local services where we can to reduce transport and excess wastage.

For things further out of reach, we use a data centre that focuses on environmental sustainability through clever energy efficiencies and technologies.

And additionally, supporting offsets.

By using renewable GreenPower energy for our web hosting, which is generated from sources like mini hydro, wind power and biomass. These sources produce no net greenhouse gas emissions.

For other emissions generated by NewSprout, we have also supported Carbon Neutral by making a donation for the emissions we generate.

This begins the process of offsetting carbon pollution, combating salinity, preventing soil erosion, restoring biodiversity, revegetating degraded land and providing much needed habitat for wildlife.

It is by no means a quick fix, but a long process taking 30 or 40 years to remove the majority of emissions, and 70 to 100 years to fully offset the emissions.

This is something positive to leave generations to come, rather than not doing anything and leaving them with our generation’s pollution.
